Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is to be probed for his all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas, Nevada last week to witness the match of boxer-senator Manny Pacquiao.
The senator himself paid for Dela Rosa.
On the other hand, a probe against Senator Leila de Lima was hindered despite many testimonies and alleged evidence against her.
Citizens call out on what they deemed an “unfair” move by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales.
Antonio Contreras, prominent political analyst and professor of political science at the De La Salle University reacted on his Facebook page by claiming that he had lost all respect for the Ombudsman.
He claimed that while he agrees that Bato should be investigated, her stance towards De Lima is something he “curses” her for.
“And I curse her for ignoring that Leni Robredo used a private helicopter for her travel once to Bicol.”
The investigation against Dela Rosa will be for the possible violation of Republic Act No. 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees) and Presidential Decree No. 46 (Making it punishable for public officials and employees to receive, and for private persons to give, gifts on any occasion, including Christmas).
Dela Rosa on Friday said that he welcomed the investigation.
